Greetings. It’s Travis. My artistic journey began in early childhood as a means to explore thoughts and emotions–to communicate my own and understand the perspectives of others. Eventually, this curiosity led me to contemplate two fundamental questions about creativity: “How do we define art?” and “How do we measure its value in our lives?”
In 1995, I set forth to study graphic design–a practical way to earn a living. Thankfully, the studio courses on this path allowed me to continue nurturing my love for fine art, culminating in a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2000.
As for what fuels my imagination, not much compares to immersing myself in the breathtaking wonders of creation during a simple hike. Additionally, themes such as rhythm and movement found in music and dance harmoniously intertwine, informing and enriching my work.
Like any meaningful journey, mine has been filled with discoveries. There’s a valuable conclusion I’ve stumbled upon by having the privilege of collaborating with professionals from diverse fields. Even disciplines seemingly unrelated to the “arts” consistently offer insights into innovation and creativity. Over time, my quest to define “art” has led me to appreciate the talents of various individuals, who I genuinely view as being “artists” in their unique expertise.
